Founded by Emine Şimşek, a Bachelor of Architecture graduate from SCI-Arc, studioemines approaches design as a holistic experience, a language that moves freely between jewelry, furniture, and architecture. It is not defined by scale or typology, but by a way of thinking that embraces tradition, cultural heritage, experimentation, and the imperfect beauty of the handmade.
My journey began in the Grand Bazaar of Istanbul, inside a small atelier that became my second home. I was fifteen when I first stepped into that space, unaware of how profoundly it would shape me. There, under the guidance of Nihat Usta, one of the most skilled craftsmen I have ever known, I spent countless hours learning the patience, precision, and poetry of making by hand. Those years taught me that every object carries the story of its making, the traces of time, the marks of the hand, and the spirit of its creator.
Through this process, I embraced mistakes as unique opportunities leading to new ideas and design thinking. A piece of jewelry could transform into furniture, and an architectural form could return as a wearable object. Every shift in scale revealed new possibilities and meanings.
At studioemines, imperfection is not seen as a flaw but as the essence of creation. Each handmade piece, whether worn, lived with, or inhabited, carries its own identity, shaped by the dialogue between material, maker, and time.
